LAKE CATANI KAYAK HIRE

The kayak hire at Lake Catani has closed for the Winter and will return in the spring (Melbourne Cup Long Weekend)

DINGO DELL CAFE and GORGE COFFEE VAN MAY

Dingo Dell cafe will be open Wednesday to Sundays throughout May. The Gorge Coffee Van is closed for the winter and will return in the spring

1.5 Million $ Gorge Prescinct Upgrade commenced

Work on the Gorge Precinct Upgrade has commenced.
As a part of Parks Victoria's upgrade investment in the Chalet and environs their is to be a $1.5 Mil upgrade of the facilities at the gorge precinct car park - See parkweb.vic.gov.au for details

CAMPING AT MOUNT BUFFALO

Camping at Lake Catani camping ground is now closed until the snow arrives when there is snow camping available (drop toilet only) with parking at the entry gate at the road.

VISITING MOUNT BUFFALO THIS AUTUMN

Mount Buffalo is well worth a visit in the autumn.  There is swimming, fishing and kayaking on Lake Catani, easy or hard hikes and amazing views. There are also Rock Climbing,Abseiling, Bushwalking, Porta ledge picnics and many other amazing activities and adventures are available using licensed tour operators. The Cafe at Dingo Dell is open Wednesdays to Sundays.
Why not visit one of our amazing waterfalls or perhaps experience sunset at the Horn
Spoil yourself and "Visit Mount Buffalo" this Autumn.

CAMPING

There is no hard roof accommodation at Mount Buffalo at this time. (The Chalet is closed) but the Lake Catani camping ground is open from November to the end of April and has Hot Showers, Toilets and tent or small camper sites. There is also a Group Camping site for Schools and Groups over summer / autumn

There are also two hike-in outstation camping areas

* Mt Mc Leod, and

* Rocky Creek (Via the Reservoir)

* Both maximum of 12 persons only


HIKING TO OUTSTATION CAMPING

OUTSTATION CAMPING
Remote bush camping is available for a limited
number of hikers during the summer months at
the Rocky Creek and Mount McLeod Camp-
grounds. These are minimal impact camping sites
designed for fuel stove use only and have pit
toilets. Remote camping is possible for a
maximum of two nights only with a permit issued
from the Rangers.

Camping

Book camping and accommodation hereMount Buffalo is a great location for camping, fees apply. Camping at Lake Catani is available from November to April. Bookings are needed in busy periods
For bookings call Parks Victoria on 13 1963 or book online.

Please note: there will no longer be a ballot for camping at Lake Catani over the Christmas holidays.

Non-Peak Periods:
For the convenience of those wanting to pre-book, which is advisable, sites 22 to 59 can be booked at anytime, up to 12 months in advance. These sites will always show reserved signs.
Sites 2 to 19, are only available for casual arrivals on a first-come, first-served basis. These sites will only show a reserved sign when in use.

Group Camping Area
A special area within the campground (sites 22-29) has been set aside for schools and social groups. These sites must be booked in advance, through the park office; ph (03) 57562328. Only two school or social groups can occupy the campground at any one time. The total number of school or social group campers must not exceed 50 on any one night.

Peak Periods:

Mt Buffalo National Park will not be balloting for peak periods this year, the system will be based on a first-in, first-served basis.

Bookings will open on Monday 1 September at 10am for the peak periods of:
Melbourne Cup weekend
Labour Day weekend
Easter
January School Holidays: bookings must be in week blocks
