Dingo Dell
An iconic Mount Buffalo destination for generations of High Country locals and city visitors, Dingo Dell has given thousands of children (and grown ups!) their first snow experience, offering tobogganing, snowman-making and everybody's favourite - the snowball fight. In the warmer months take the short walk up the toboggan slopes to the Dingo Dell Lookout to be rewarded with quintessential Mount Buffalo views across the plateau.
Snow Season Activities
With wide open spaces and a good amount of snowfall during winter it's easy to see why Dingo Dell has been a popular winter playground for generations of local and visiting families.
- Hire a toboggan from the Cafe or off-mountain in Bright or Porepunkah and have a ball whizzing down the slopes
- Make the biggest snowman ever!
- Hire some snowshoes and walk up to the Dingo Dell Lookout
- Learn to cross country ski
- Have a snowball fight
- Warm up with a hot chocolate or coffee at the Dingo Dell Cafe
There's no entry fee for Mount Buffalo or to access the Dingo Dell snowplay area. Parking is easy and there are toilets including a disabled toilet.
Dingo Dell Cafe & Visitor Centre
The Dingo Dell Cafe is located in the large open area to the right of the Mount Buffalo Road, a few km past Lake Catani. During winter the cafe offers hot and cold drinks, snacks and a simple takeaway menu. There are toilets in the building including a disabled toilet.
Winter cafe hours are usually 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week, year round but check the Visit Mount Buffalo Facebook page for updates or closures.
Due to COVID-19 regulations the cafe is not operating during summer 2020/21. Takeaway coffees and simple snacks are available from the coffee van in the Gorge Precinct.
Parking
There is limited parking for 5-6 cars directly outside the Cafe & Visitor Centre (a disabled parking bay is available) but plenty of additional parking on the side of the access road (facing back to the main road) and even more parking on the Mount Buffalo Road at the large parking area.
