Fishing
Picturesque and productive, Lake Catani on Mount Buffalo is a versatile fishing location that produces wild-bred rainbow trout and has accessible locations to suit children, beginners, families and experts alike.
Bait and lure/spinner angling are most popular with families and beginners, but please bring your bait with you as collecting or trapping bait is not permitted in National Parks. Fishing from a canoe or kayak is the easiest way to access the better locations on the lake, and also avoids damaging the fragile alpine vegetation on the banks in order to access the water.
The expert fly fishers usually do well in the quieter locations on the lake. There are a few water access points for wading, noting that the lake depth increases quickly in some areas.
Fishing licences
A Victorian fishing licence is required for each adult. Children do not need licences.
